The initial roots of Kenya Assemblies of God (KAG) EAST University can be traced to Tanzania, where the Assemblies of God USA established the Northern Tanganyika Bible School in Arusha in the 1960s. Many of the early KAG leaders received their ministerial training there. Between September 1975 and 1976, the Assemblies of God Division of Foreign Missions decided to relocate the Arusha Bible School from Tanzania to Kenya, laying the foundation for what would become KAG EAST University, a Christian University in Kenya.
